Hmm. [What a vague reply. Ryousuke takes one look between Kuramochi and the door and- turns on his heel to walk in the opposite direction.
It's only a couple of paces though, and he dumps his gear and seats himself down on the grass of the front lawn. They probably still have the lawn chairs from the first day tucked away somewhere but whatever. He's dirty from practice, Kuramochi's probably not had a lot of chances to clean up, and if you pretend, they can be having a normal conversation on a baseball field or something.
He checks if Kuramochi's following, waving him over.]
Kuramochi, over here.
[Apart from the streetlights, the lights from the porch and inside the house are switched on too. Sugane and Haruichi are likely home, and he'd much rather deal with it now than hear Kuramochi's end of the story between all four of them. It was their mess, not really anyone else's.]
[He blinks as Ryosuke walks back away from the house, and--oh. It'd only make sense, they didn't have a proper talk after what happened a week ago. Kuramochi takes a breath as he closes the front door to follow after Ryosuke to sit down on the front lawn.
Kuramochi stays quiet for a moment before deciding he should be the one to speak up about this. He turns to Ryosuke to kneel down, his forehead hitting against the ground.]
Ryo-san I'm sorry about last week! I'm not going to make any excuses for how I acted then...
[He waits in silence for Kuramochi to come join him on the grass, preparing to guide the conversation if need be. But looks like it's unnecessary, the guy in front of him taking the initiative -- direct and to the point.
Kuramochi's head is bowed towards the ground, preventing him from being privy to Ryousuke's shift of expression, eyes barely perceptible behind a flutter of eyelashes. He's certainly serious about this.
He hadn't planned on demanding a formal apology, if the contrast between Kuramochi and his casual posture is any indication. Ryousuke lets out an soft exhale, but his words are delivered with the same cool half-bite as usual.]
[Kuramochi can't see how Ryosuke's looking like at the moment, nor was he sure he'd want to lift his head up to take a look either... So he stays put for during the time silence sits in the air.
He receives a pang of guilt as he hears the other's words, which probably is visible as he jerks a little.]
...To be honest, there's still some parts that are fuzzy, but I know enough that what I did was out of the line.
[He's had a week with his own thoughts to come up with this conclusion: the whole thing was just. stupid. Too many drinks were poured that night and Ryousuke had played along and it had lead to this and that and basically it had all been meaningless. Stolen drinks and careless comments about dresses could be easily brushed to the side. Kissing him and laughing afterwards was another thing entirely but Ryousuke was planning on burying that if Kuramochi hadn't remembered. Nothing but drunken, meaningless action. And - he notes with Kuramochi's slight flinching movement - he was sincerely sorry. And honest about it.
Ryousuke lets the tension between them linger, and the lights cast his shadow over Kuramochi, one hand raised like a sentence.
The executioner's axe falls, the blade of his hand coming down--]
[kuramochi was expecting to get ryosuke's trademark chop, really. but when he realizes it's not coming when he feels the light tap, he raises his head a little.
he sure does sound like the usual, but he's not sure if he should rely on that.]
I'm sorry of what happened last week, Ryo-san. I really should've watched what I was drinking.
[grk-- kuramochi can't rebuttal on that, since he really did do a shitty job at keeping himself together just after a couple drinks. so he goes quiet as he purses his mouth shut, pouting a little.
he does take note of the usual smile, though, and he does feel himself relax with some relief.]
...It won't happen again. [but this is ryosuke they are talking about, and kuramochi knew he probably wouldn't be off the hook this easily...]
[Good. As expected, you know him well enough to know you're not in the green just yet. Ryousuke's posture is relaxed, hands propping himself up behind him as he unleashes his tirade, all served with a smile.]
It was your first time, no? You did an excellent job of embarrassing yourself in front of everyone. Even if you drink, you're still responsible for your actions.
[But he's learnt that already, hasn't he.]
If you're going to disappear for a week without warning, expect to be beaten.
[kuramochi's embarrassed about this. miyuki was probably there to also watch the entire thing unfold, he's not going to get the end of it from mister captain either.
he gives a small groan, covering his face.] Yeah, I've learned. And I won't disappear for a week either...
[Haruichi's worried glances kept being sent his way, an empty desk sat in their shared class, and the absence of a shortstop during practice definitely didn't go unnoticed by the team, Ryousuke included of course. But it's easier to just say the most obvious example (team mom) and leave it at that.]
The house is so much more quiet without your loud mouth.
[he could care less (a little) about sugane and his habit of worrying too much... fortunately he hasn't seen sugane's series of text yet.]
My mouth isn't that loud, Ryo-san. [it totally is though. just he doesn't start getting loud unless someone's already being loud...most of the time.] Not compared to Old--...Tachibana's. ...And wouldn't that be good for some peace and quiet?
[Oh, Kuramochi was definitely not going to survive this conversation without at least one real karate chop. And here it comes, smacking him square in the shoulder blades.]
[nope, he wouldn't survive. kuramochi's usually the straight man yelling at some of the idiots on team seido, but when it comes to talking with ryosuke, it just doesn't work.
but he is sorry that he's made you worry even for a little bit.]
...Right. [he gives a small grin in response] Well it's not going to happen again. [so don't worry!]
Then you'll only need to apologise to Sugane this once too.
[He's really being a stickler here, but if there's anyone who was concerned, it'd be that guy. Kuramochi's phone battery likely hasn't held up, but Ryousuke didn't have to steal either of their phones to know there's probably quite the few unread messages waiting on him.]
...... [he has some tolerance against actually apologizing to sugane. but he has brought this onto himself with his own screw up, so he'll have to swallow his (dumb) pride and stubbornness this one time.
no, he's yet to see the texts he received on his phone, he was in no mind to be looking at that for the past week... but they've been housemates for long enough for kuramochi to figure sugane would worry about him disappearing for a week like this, as annoying as it may be.]
For as much as Ryo wields around words like barbs, he's well aware Kuramochi is not an idiot. Maybe a gaming idiot, and definitely a drunken idiot - a baseball idiot too, but none of them were exactly exempt from that title. Kuramochi also happened to be observant, and surprisingly sharp when it came to particular matters - matters pertaining to someone elusive enough as Ryousuke included.
Kuramochi was going to talk to Sugane.
He finds his shoulders drop, a tension he hadn't exactly noticed he was holding. He's finally exhausted his list of things to chew him out for. For now, at least. For now, maybe they can just be old teammates sitting outside on the grass together. ]
[whatever composure kuramochi was gaining back from this talk gets destroyed by that sentence. he sputters, unable to find his voice to coherently answer back.
in a way, ryosuke has gotten his first kiss. first kiss...
kuramochi gave his first kiss to his senpai.]
R-Ryo-san, please don't tease like that!!!
[a blush starts creeping up on his face inevitably as it suddenly gets really hard to look at ryosuke's direction.]
[There we go, confirmation. So he really does remember. Ryousuke would be a little insulted if he didn't.]
Hm? Don't tell me you actually kissed someone else before me?
[His tone is still teasing. It's definitely not what Kuramochi means, but he's going to milk this for all it's worth. Maybe it's his vindictive streak showing, after having to deal with the initial shock of it, along with the ensuing headache, but flustering Kuramochi just happens to be second nature to him.]
[is this the punishment for what happened a week ago? he knows enough that it's most definitely is, but it's still hard to keep his cool with how much teasing ryosuke is doing.]
[Maybe punishment, but also that's just the kind of person Ryousuke is. Despite how much trouble Kuramochi is having, trying to keep it together, Ryousuke appears terribly composed.]
No wonder it sucked so much.
[That self satisfied grin is still there. Big words for someone who has just as much experience.]
[that's so unfair, how would anyone be able to practice for their first kiss???
but wait, does that mean ryosuke already had some experience in these kind of things?!? ...that's the thought that passes by kuramochi's mind for a split second.]
H-how can anyone practice for their first kiss to even be good at it??
[it's pretty embarrassing to keep talking about this...]
What I'm saying is, no one's that good when they start out.
[Isn't that the case with baseball too? When Kuramochi first got partnered up with him, bearing the brunt of Ryousuke's worst, to the cohesive tag team they have (had?) now. You try once, and then you try again.]
But you make up for it later, yes? [ You always do. ]
[He shifts closer, one hand planted on the grass between them, propping him up as he leans into Kuramochi's space.]
